Working Principle and Features of Syringe Pump

Working principle of syringe pump


Syringe pump is composed of stepper motor, driver, screw rod, bracket, etc. It has screw rod and nut in reciprocating movement, so it is also called screw pump. Nut is connected to syringe piston, fluid is put into syringe, and fluid is transferred steadily with high accuracy.


During work, single chip microcomputer system sends control pulse to rotate motor, and stepper motor drives screw rod to move in a straight line from rotation and pushes syringe piston for injection and transfusion, in order to realize stable fluid transfer with high accuracy. Operators can set up the injection speed by keyboard operation. After syringe pump starting, CPU provides motor to drive voltage by D/A conversion. Motor rotation detection circuit is a group of optocoupler circuit, pulse signal is produced by motor rotation and feeds back to CPU, and CPU controls motor voltage according to the feedback and gets the stated rotation speed.


Features of syringe pump


Features of syringe pump: stable transfer: uniform motion all the way, steady and stable work; wide range of running speed: 10000 times wide running speed range increase greatly flexibility in use; no cleaning: only syringe needs to be replaced for transferring fluid of different features; flow: with high accuracy, when flow is ≥30% at full stroke, control error is ≤±0.5%.


At present, syringe pump has more than 300 kinds, and can be divided into electric syringe pump and propeller syringe pump. Electric syringe pump can be divided into single channel, dual channel and programmed ten channels, and can be selected according to demands. Multiple syringes can be chosen and identified automatically. Flow speed can be set as small as 0.001microliter/hour, flow at  0.001microliter/hour, accuracy at ±0.5%, repeatability at ±0.2%, and running speed of electric syringe pump is at 9.5*10mm/min. Programmable syringe pump can set freely the flow speed of 2 or 10 syringes, can set separately different flow, can output with voltage and current signal, with RS232 interface, can connect to printer and computer, and can joint time controller.


Syringe pump can run in two ways, namely not only inject fluid in one direction, but also recover fluid to reach mixed effects. It can set pulse to avoid big shock on small animals raising and filling. Foot switch can be selected for easy operation. Propeller syringe pump can set up advance times, choose two-way operation, not only can inject fluid in one direction, but also can recover fluid to reach mixed effects, and can choose several simultaneous propellers.
